About the Course

This module first seeks to define the issue of human factors and the factors that cause us to operate a cognitive deficit in practice. To perform at our best, we have to be familiar and comfortable in the environment we have chosen to work in as a clinician. Human factors encompass all those factors that can influence people and their behaviour. In this module we look at the environmental, organisational and job factors, and individual characteristics which influence human factors.

Some of the tips and tricks reviewed in this module include:

  • Rapport building to objectify problems and de-escalation techniques.
  • Methods of behavioural flexibility
  • Non-verbal communication skills
  • Visual, Auditory and Kinaesthetic (VAK) tools.
  • Mirror and matching techniques to get the best from people
